Iridium Calling Tips

To make a free test call from an Iridium satellite phone dial +1-480-752-5105.
If you are calling a landline: Dial 00 first, then the country code, the area code, and then the phone number of the person you are trying to call. For example: 00-1-480-722-3211 then press the green OK button to connect. You will hear a series of beeps as the phone contacts the satellite to reach the number you have dialed.
To call satellite phone to satellite phone: Dial 00-8816-XXXX-XXXX).

How to Call Emergency "911" from a Satellite Phone

The Emergency Service is available in the United States, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands by dialing “911” and pressing "OK" green soft key. When the call is made, it is automatically routed to Iridium’s selected 911 emergency call center provider, Intrado. After determining the nature of the emergency, Intrado will route the call to the nearest Public Safety Answering Point.
Note: If you have an Iridium 9575 or Iridium GO! you can also program the emergency SOS button for GEOS (Global Emergency Operation System- "Optional service with additional fee") or you can program 4 phone numbers or email addresses to send out a GPS location link to your friends, colleagues or family members through the SOS button without subscribing to GEO's service.

How to Configure Text Message (SMS) Feature in your Iridium Satellite Phone

Before you can send an SMS message from the Iridium system, the Iridium SMS service center number must be stored on the SIM card. You have to enter the SMS Service Center Number prior to Sending the first SMS message.

Entering SMS Service Center Number on Iridium 9500/9505/9505a/9522 Handsets

Press the Envelope Key on the handset.

Use the Scroll Key to select the ‘Message Settings’ option. Press OK.

Use the Scroll Key to select the ‘Service Centre’ option. Press OK.

Enter 00881662900005 or +881662900005. Press OK.

The phone will momentarily display “Completed”.

Isatphone 2 & IsatPhone Pro Calling Tips

To test the IsatPhone satellite phone you can dial 00 870 776 999 999 (or +870 776 999 999). This is a free call that will enable you to test your phone for connectivity.
To check your balance on your prepaid SIM Card from the main calling screen enter the balance enquiry code (*106#) and press the green call key.
To send GPS location, go to the Menu, select GPS Position > Options > Send GPS location > Send > Text Message or Email Message and enter the recipient's address information in the "To" field. Then press SEND.
To place a call anywhere in the world, dial 00 + Country Code + Phone Number.
To call another IsatPhone, dial 00 + Inmarsat Phone Number (870-xxxx-xxxx).

Tips for installation

First check the latest version on your IsatPhone Pro. Go to Menu > Settings > About > Firmware version.

If the version you have is 5.3.0 or higher, it is recommended to upgrade your phone to the latest firmware (5.11.0), because the features introduced by this firmware are important for the functionality of the phone, however is not critical for the GSPS service.

For users that who have not yet upgraded to version 5.3.0 or higher, this upgrade to 5.11.0 is considered to be ‘mandatory’ to avoid the phone becoming non-operational.

Important: Firmware version 5.11.0 supersedes the firmware version 5.8.0
